Rolling weight and unsprung weight is similar, but differen't. Since wheels are unsprung they contribute to the unsprung weight, but have even more of an effect on suspension dynamics. Unsprung weight is anything that isn't suspended by the suspension, such as; wheels, linkage, brakes, dérailleur ect. All these components have to move with the suspension, and the heavier they are, the more force it requires to move them when impacting an obstacle, and return back to its full extension. A heavier object carries more inertia, which entails in more force required to rebound the load after an impact, to prepare for the next. Means more feedback on the bars, and pour tracking through rough sections and corners.
